Kyle Darmstead

Clinical Intern

As a former student-athlete, coach, and mental performance consultant, I bring nearly two decades of experience in the world of sports. I competed at the collegiate level in baseball at Christopher Newport University and was a multi-sport athlete in high school, earning varsity letters in baseball, basketball, and golf. This background has shaped my understanding of the unique mental and emotional demands athletes face. I believe resilience and confidence are not just traits but skills that can be developed through intentional training—both on and off the field. My approach is rooted in helping individuals harness these strengths to improve performance, manage pressure, and thrive in all areas of life. I utilize a person-centered approach and integrate Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in therapy sessions. One of my favorite quotes is, “That which you most need will be found where you least want to look.” — Carl Jung. Therapy often asks us to explore the uncomfortable or unfamiliar—but that’s where real growth happens. I look forward to being on this journey with you
